It's Saturday night and I just got back to the east coast. I was a little unsure of what to expect with the new travel restrictions, but it really went pretty smoothly; the only problem is everyone is checking luggage now. Used to be that most savy travelers (like me) took all their gear on the plane and skipped the baggage check-in. No longer. But the security check is actually quicker now, in my opinion, since there are fewer carry-ons. I have learned from experience that if you are flying into Southern CA, always fly into John Wayne/Orange County Airport and not LAX, which is much more crowded. I had a clear trip back for most of the way so I enjoyed seeing the views of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. I still am still just a kid on the Airplane, when I have a clear day like today. I had a busy day yesterday, started meetings about 8:00 AM and pretty much had things going continuous until 6:30 PM, when we had a reception. I had the honor of getting elected to the Board of Directors of this organization yesterday for a three year term. The the name of the organization is the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors or NASCUS. I have been on several committees for them but never have been on the Board so this was sort of neat.

I sort of ate on the run today. Early to the airport, Micky D's for breakfast and just some snacks for lunch on the plane. Remember when they used to feed you mystery chicken on the plane? I really think the crackers and cheese may be an improvement. Watched an animated movie on the flight back, somethings about Hedges, I can't remember exactly. I finally got home around 8:30 PM and had fish sticks, fries and cole slaw with my wife. I am very happy to be home; next year I have to swing a way of taking Cathy with me. I think she just didn't want to leave our 17 YO alone by himself for a week.

I saw that Curly got back from her trip and checked in. I don't blame her for letting loose a little bit on the diet; if I were in France and Italy, I would have done the same, and it sounds like she was able to get some exercise walking.

I got some great exercise this week walking up hill. Everything in California seems to be up hill in my experience (both ways!) but it was great exercise and my calves look very developed as a result of doing this all week. I am very lucky that I get the opportunity to travel fairly frequently and see so many beautiful parts of the country. I would like to come back and spend more time and see everything that there is to see in places like California and New Mexico where we went last year. I had several things that I hoped to do but my schedule just didn't give me the time.

Tomorrow is a fasting day, so wish me luck...

Glad you had a good trip and that the baggage/security checks weren't too much of a hassle. I know what you mean about being a kid on the airplane. When I flew to Toronto to visit friends last year I was fascinated by the view out the window for practically the whole trip. I skipped the in-flight movie and watched the scenery below instead. It's really breathtaking on a nice day.
Having watched more than few animated movies with my kids, I think the movie you probably watched was Over The Hedge with Bruce Willis and Gary Shandling. It's actually a really good one.
